Perhaps the most exotic looking fighters in the whole of the RAF during WWII was the desert camouflaged, 'shark mouthed' Kittyhawks with No. 112 Squadron in the Western Desert.
The model is 1/32nd scale Hasegawa kit with bespoke decals.

A Kittyhawk Mk I with No. 112 Sqn, RAF, Western Desert in early 1942 that was regularly flown by the C.O., Sqn/Ldr Clive Caldwell. Above the individual code letter the phrase. "The Grim Jester" was painted. This was one of at least five Kittyhawks at the time with a name or phrase painted above the code letter referencing a contemporary cultural icon. Perhaps the best known is GA-Y "London Pride", a reference to the song of the same name, written and performed, by Noel Coward. So, who was the oxymoron, Grim Jester? It was of course, "The Joker", one of Batmans arch villans who first appeared in the Batman comic released in Spring 1940.
